Course Description
The Heartsaver AED (Automated External Defibrillators) Course
teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and how to use AED
defibrillators. Students also learn about using barrier
devices in CPR and giving first aid for choking. The course
teaches how to recognize the signs of four major emergencies:
heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest and foreign-body airway
obstruction and treat with an Automated External Defibrillator.
Course Length: 3 1/2 - 4 hours
Intended Audience
All lay responders, such as firefighters, police, airline
personnel, security guards, employees in the workplace, family
members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, other
lay rescuers, and those who may have a need to respond to a
cardiac emergency using automated external defibrillators.

with Pediatric CPR
Course Description
The Heartsaver AED With Pediatric CPR Course teaches the basic
techniques of adult CPR and use of automated external
defibrillators. Pediatric CPR skills
may be taught if students live or work in a setting where children
are present. Students also learn to use barrier devices in CPR and
give first aid for choking for responsive adult, child and infant
victims. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of four
major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest and FBAO.
Course Length: 6 1/2 - 7 1/4 hours
Intended Audience
All lay responders with a duty to respond such as firefighters,
police, airline personnel, security guards, and employees in the
workplace; family members of patients at high risk for sudden
cardiac death; other lay rescuers who may need to respond to a
cardiac emergency using defibrillators.
